# What are AI credits?

> Understand what AI credits pay for.

AI credits pay for eligible AI-generated practice content. They are not a second currency for saving words or unlocking modes that do not use AI.

**1. One credit per delivered prompt**

Each delivered AI prompt uses one credit, whether you use **Default** or choose a named model. AI Memory Match uses one credit per delivered pair.

**2. Check your balance**

Open [Account → Billing](https://app.vocabmonster.com/account#billing).

**3. Know which games spend them**

Fill in the Blank, Context Detective, Synonym Sprint, Antonym Challenge, Synonym Match, and Opposite Match spend credits. The other modes do not. See [Which games use AI credits](/help/using-the-app/which-games-use-ai-credits.md).

**4. Monthly vs purchased**

Included monthly credits reset each billing month and do not roll over. Purchased credits do not expire. Details: [How credits work](/help/account/how-credits-work.md).
