# Disconnect Google Sign-In

> Remove Google from your account after you add a Vocab Monster password.

You can disconnect Google Sign-In from Account → Security. Vocab Monster requires a saved **password** first so you still have a way to sign in.

**1. Add a password if you do not have one**

Open [Account → Security](https://app.vocabmonster.com/account#security). If you originally signed up with Google, use **Set password** (or **Change password** if one already exists). Use an email you control. Details are in [Change or reset your password](/help/account/reset-your-password.md).

**2. Open Google Sign-In**

On the same Security tab, find **Google Sign-In**.

**3. Choose Disconnect Google**

Select **Disconnect Google**. If no password is saved yet, Disconnect stays available and you will see: **Add a password before disconnecting Google Sign-In.** Add the password, then disconnect again.

After a successful disconnect you can sign in with email and password (and any passkeys). Use the same Google account if you later sign in with Google again and want to reach the same data.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Keep at least one sign-in method you can complete on your own — password, passkey, or magic link — before you disconnect Google.
